Battery Management System (BMS)
A Battery Management System (BMS) is designed to monitor the status of batteries, control the charging and discharging process, and provide various protections.
HX-2S-D20 Charge-Discharge Controller Module
The HX-2S-D20 charge-discharge controller module can connect and manage two 18650 batteries simultaneously. It offers protection against short circuits, overcharging, and over-discharging. One key feature is its ability to disconnect the power supply to the batteries when the maximum capacity of at least one battery is reached. This BMS controller is built for durability, with an operational lifespan exceeding 30,000 hours and a maximum allowable current of 20 A.
Pin Configuration of HX-2S-D20 Module
The module has five pins:
- B+: Battery positive pole
- B-: Battery negative pole
- BM: Mid-point of the battery assembly
- P-: Negative charge/discharge terminal
- P+: Positive charge/discharge terminal
Protection and Operation
When the supply voltage exceeds the maximum permissible value, the charge controller activates a “protection” mode. To reset the module, you need to reapply voltage to the input of the BMS board or wait for the charge controller to automatically disable the protection mode.
Power Supply and Charging
The module is powered by an external power source with a voltage range from 7.4 to 8.4 V. For charging, a step-up voltage converter with a current limiter can be used. Note that this module is not a charger itself; it manages and protects the charging and discharging process.
