The 3D Printer Aluminium Assembled Extruder J-Head Hotend RepRap MakerBot serves as a crucial component for printing filament in 3D printers. Built upon its signature high-temperature performance, it enables printing with high-temperature materials. Moreover, the product has been refined to enhance functionality with soft and flexible filaments.
By incorporating a PTFE liner tube within the hot end, extendable into the 3D printer extruder, this facilitates the necessary confinement and constraint for producing high-quality prints with flexible filaments such as Ninja Flex, Flex PLA, and Flex Polyester. This expansion in capability opens up a wide array of opportunities for your printer.
The all-metal construction enables compatibility with materials like Polycarbonate, allowing for printing at temperatures up to 300 degrees Celsius. Furthermore, it accommodates future materials that may require even higher working temperatures, surpassing the capabilities of plastic extruders and hot ends.
When the filament drive mechanism is situated on a stationary part of the 3D printer, it can be guided into a tube. PTFE (Teflon) is employed due to its low friction properties, reducing wear and energy loss as the filament moves through. One end of the tube is connected to the extruder’s hot-end. The utilization of a Bowden cable as a guiding mechanism, as suggested and pioneered by Ed Sells, enhances the efficiency and precision of filament delivery.
