Carbon fiber tubes offer a compelling alternative to traditional aluminum or steel tubes across a wide array of projects. Despite being of comparable weight, carbon fiber tubes can be significantly stronger and lighter. This 14mm roll-wrapped carbon fiber tube is primarily crafted using high modulus (T700) unidirectional prepreg carbon fiber, strategically oriented to maximize strength along the lateral axis.

Compared to pultruded tubes, which feature fibers aligned in the same direction, roll-wrapped carbon fiber tubes deliver superior overall strength. However, it’s essential to note that while these tubes excel in lateral strength, they may not be as robust across their diameter. Thus, they should be utilized to minimize crushing forces perpendicular to the tube’s length.

The manufacturing process, known as roll wrapping, involves layering prepreg carbon fiber around a mandrel before spiral wrapping with heat-shrink tape. Subsequently, the entire assembly undergoes oven curing to achieve its final form.
