The 5A Range Current Sensor Module ACS712 features a precise, low-offset, linear Hall circuit with a copper conduction path located near the surface of the die. The current flowing through this copper path generates a magnetic field, which the Hall IC converts into a proportional voltage.

Current sensing and control are crucial in many applications, including over-current protection circuits, battery chargers, switching mode power supplies, digital watt meters, and programmable current sources.

This module, based on the ACS712 sensor, can accurately detect both AC and DC currents up to 5A. The current signal is easily readable via the analog I/O port of an Arduino, facilitating seamless integration into various projects.
