Introducing the 5mm Blue DIP LED. As a two-lead semiconductor light source, an LED emits light when activated. Applying an appropriate voltage to the LED terminal allows electrons to recombine with electron holes within the device, releasing energy in the form of photons—a phenomenon known as electroluminescence. The color of the LED is determined by the energy bandgap of the semiconductor material.
