This is the BLHeli-S20A-D-A.

There are mainly three types of ESCs available on the market: Oneshot ESC, Opto ESC, and D-Shot ESC. The BLHeli-S20A-D-A is a D-Shot ESC, making it an excellent choice for drone projects. It provides power to BLDC motors, enhancing speed performance using BLHeli technology.

D-Shot, short for “Digital Shot,” is a protocol that flight controllers use to communicate with ESCs. Developed by Flyduino in collaboration with Betaflight, D-Shot serves as a digital alternative to Oneshot and Multishot, both of which use analog signals. D-Shot is the fastest ESC protocol, operating at a maximum frequency of 32 kHz, which is 10 times faster than Oneshot125.

Electronic speed controllers (ESCs) allow drone flight controllers to control and adjust the speed of the aircraft’s electric motors. A signal from the flight controller prompts the ESC to raise or lower the voltage to the motor, thus changing the propeller speed. This helps prevent a vehicle from skidding and assists the driver in maintaining control during cornering, sharp braking, or sudden maneuvers. ESC technology automatically activates the brakes to help steer the vehicle in the right direction.
