Cytron SmartDriveDuo-60 MDDS60 60A (100A peak)

The Cytron SmartDriveDuo-60 MDDS60 is a motor driver that offers dual channels, with a continuous current capacity of 60A for each channel. This makes it an ideal choice for building combat or sumo robots. Simply select a motor and wheel combination, pair it with a high-power battery, use thick wires, connect everything to the MDDS60, choose an RC controller, and your robot is ready to go! Drawing on the knowledge and feedback obtained from previous models such as MD10C, MDD10A, MD30C, MDS40A, MDDS10, and MDS160A, Cytron is excited to introduce this smart motor driver, eager to see the innovative applications users can create.

The SmartDriveDuo60 inherits smart features from the MDDS10 but boasts a higher continuous current capability of 60A per channel. It even incorporates a brushless fan on the top cover to ensure efficient cooling. The MDDS60 is versatile, accepting various control inputs such as RC signals for mix mode drive, analog voltage from a potentiometer, PWM from microcontrollers like Arduino or PIC, and serial commands via UART.

Operation modes are easily configured using the DIP switch on the MDDS60, and the bottom cover provides a convenient reference for commonly used configurations. High-current MOSFETs operate at 16KHz, ensuring a quiet operation. To enhance the cooling system, top and bottom covers have been added.

Equipped with an onboard temperature sensor, this smart driver can dynamically limit the output current to prevent overheating and damage. The peak current reaches 100A for 1 second before automatically restricting the output. Additionally, the MDDS60 features a user-friendly 2×3 header pin for RC receivers, simplifying the wiring process with just two RC extension cables.

With the MDDS60, users can connect up to three SLA batteries in series to power their motors, supporting up to 45V DC input. A single power input is sufficient to operate both the motor and driver. The MDDS60 is compatible with 3-cell and 6-cell Lipo batteries within the operating voltage and includes a battery low voltage warning feature for added convenience.

Note:

1. Do use proper wire/cable for battery and motor connection. Think jumper wire/cable cannot support the high current application. We recommend using AWG8 Red and Black multicore wire.
2. NO polarity protection, please double check the power input connection.
3. Do use proper cable/wire for the battery and load, thin/normal cable/wire will melt and burn.

MDDS60 is upgraded to Rev1.10. There is a component change in the upgraded version. However, it does not affect the performance or the interface. MDDS60 is shipped in upgraded version based on its availability.
