The Raspberry Pi Compute Module 4 IoT Router is an internet expansion board designed specifically for the Raspberry Pi Compute Module 4. This carrier board, known as the Compute Module 4 IoT Router Carrier Board Mini, offers enhanced network performance by connecting with a gigabit network card via PCIe. This setup provides two full-speed gigabit network ports, delivering better performance, lower CPU usage, and higher stability for prolonged use compared to a USB network card. Despite its compact size of 55 x 62mm, the board retains the characteristic GPIO pin header of the Raspberry Pi, allowing for the connection of other actuators, sensors, and a smart cooling fan. Additionally, it includes a USB 2.0 interface for connecting mobile hard drives, printers, WiFi modules, LTE modules, and more.
The Compute Module 4 IoT Router Carrier Board Mini supports the OpenWRT open-source router system, enabling it to function as a router after a simple setup. It is also compatible with Raspberry Pi OS, Ubuntu Server, and other Raspberry Pi systems. Powered by the BCM2711 4-core 1.5GHz Cortex-A72 processor, and supported by the extensive Raspberry Pi community, this board is an excellent foundation for building high-performance gateways, smart routers, and home IoT platforms. It can also serve as a mini-NAS, wireless network bridge, or LTE Internet terminal. A supporting case will be released soon. Note that the CM4 socket is fragile; ensure correct alignment before pressing it down and avoid repeatedly plugging and unplugging the CM4 module. Always verify the installation direction of the CM4 module before powering up.
