The DHT11 Digital Relative Humidity and Temperature Sensor Module comes pre-calibrated with resistive sense technology, complemented by an NTC thermistor for accurate readings of relative humidity and surrounding temperature. This breakout board, a popular and budget-friendly sensor from Aosong, facilitates easy installation of the DHT11 sensor module.

Integrated into the board is a high-performance 8-Bit microcontroller linked to the DHT11 sensor module, which outputs digital signals through a single data pin. The sensor updates its readings every 2 seconds (0.5Hz).

This setup makes the device ideal for direct connection to various microcontroller boards like Arduino’s. The board features an onboard LED, a bypass capacitor between Vcc and Gnd, and a pull-up resistor across the data line and Vcc.

The DHT-11 Digital Temperature and Humidity Sensor is a basic, ultra low-cost digital sensor that employs a capacitive humidity sensor and a thermistor to measure surrounding air, delivering digital signals via the data pin (no analog input pins required).

While easy to use, it necessitates precise timing for data retrieval. One limitation is that it provides new data only once every 2 seconds, so it’s recommended to set the sensor reading interval in your code accordingly. Compared to the DHT22, this sensor offers lower precision, accuracy, and operates within a narrower range of temperature and humidity.
