The GT521F32 Optical Fingerprint Scanner Module with JST SH Connector represents a top-tier fingerprint scanner renowned for its high performance. It serves a multitude of purposes including access control, security enforcement, identification, and convenience enhancement. This optical sensor module is engineered for seamless integration into applications featuring a serial interface (UART). With just two wires allocated for TX and RX, and an additional two wires designated for power supply (5V), installation and operation are simplified, ensuring efficient and hassle-free implementation.

There exist four distinct types of fingerprint scanners: optical, capacitance, ultrasonic, and thermal scanners. The GT521F32 Fingerprint Scanner Module belongs to the category of optical scanners. This particular module utilizes a digital camera to capture a visual image of the fingerprint.

Upon contact with the metal frame of the sensor, the module transitions from an idle state to an active one. Subsequently, the captured fingerprint images undergo processing onboard through the fingerprint algorithm, which is powered by a low-power 32-bit ARM Cortex-M3 processor. The processed data is then converted into strings referred to as “templates,” which are stored within the module configured as a USB mass storage device. These templates can be stored and shared across a network of modules, facilitating seamless enrollment of numerous users into the system.
