The Heart Rate Monitor Kit with AD8232 ECG Sensor Module Kit for Arduino is a cost-effective board used to measure the electrical activity of the heart. This activity can be charted as an ECG (Electrocardiogram) and output as an analog reading.
Due to the potential noise in ECG readings, the AD8232 Single Lead Heart Rate Monitor acts as an op-amp to obtain a clear signal from the PR and QT intervals easily. The AD8232 is an integrated signal conditioning block designed for ECG and other bio-potential measurement applications, effectively extracting, amplifying, and filtering small bio-potential signals even in noisy conditions caused by motion or remote electrode placement.
The AD8232 Heart Rate Monitor breaks out nine connections from the IC, which can be soldered with pins, wires, or other connectors. Essential pins include SDN, LO+, LO-, OUTPUT, 3.3V, and GND, allowing for operation with an Arduino or other development boards. Additionally, the board provides RA (Right Arm), LA (Left Arm), and RL (Right Leg) pins for custom sensor attachment. An LED indicator light on the board pulsates in rhythm with the heartbeat.
Biomedical Sensor Pads and Sensor Cable are required for the heart monitor’s operation and can be found in the Recommended Products section.
