The LoRa TM spread spectrum modem, which is integrated inside the RFM95W/96W/98W, can achieve a substantially longer range than current systems based on FSK or OOK modulation. Sensitivities 8 dB better than FSK can be obtained using a low-cost, low-tolerance crystal reference using this innovative modulation method. Much more resilience and range are achieved with this increase in link budget, negating the need for external amplification. To significantly increase communication dependability, LoRa TM offers notable improvements in blocking performance and selectivity. The user can select the error correction rate (CR), spreading factor (SF), and spread spectrum modulation bandwidth (BW) for maximum flexibility. Since each spreading component in spread modulation is orthogonal, numerous transmitted signals can occupy the same channel without interfering with one another. This is an additional benefit of spread modulation. Additionally, this allows for easy cohabitation with current FSK-based systems. Additionally, standard modulation such as GFSK, FSK, OOK, and GMSK is given to enable compatibility with current systems or standards like IEEE 802.15.4g and wireless MBUS. Bandwidth options for the RFM95W/96W range from 125 kHz to 500 kHz with spreading factors between 6 and 12.
