Built upon the TMCS1101-Q1, the Hall Current 15 Click offers precise current sensing capabilities. This Hall-effect current sensor boasts a working voltage isolation of 600V and maintains a full-scale error of less than 1.5% across temperature variations. Texas Instruments provides device options supporting both unidirectional and bidirectional current sensing.
The internal 1.8mΩ conductor facilitates the flow of input current, generating a magnetic field that is subsequently measured by an integrated Hall-effect sensor and amplified through a precision signal chain. With a bandwidth of 80kHz, the device accommodates AC and DC current measurements. It is engineered for high accuracy and temperature stability, with compensation for offset and sensitivity across the operational temperature range.
This Click board™ offers two communication options with the MCU. The analog output signal from the TMCS1101-Q1 can either be converted to a digital value using the ADC101C021, a 10-bit resolution analog-to-digital converter from Texas Instruments, via a 2-wire I2C compatible interface, or it can be directly routed to an analog pin on the mikroBUS™ socket labeled as AN. Selection between these options is facilitated by an onboard SMD switch labeled as OUT SEL, which can be set to either the AN or ADC position as appropriate.
The ADC101C021 supports data transfer in modes up to High-Speed and includes an alert function. This function triggers an interrupt routed to the ALR pin of the mikroBUS™ socket when the analog input surpasses a programmable upper or lower limit value.
Applications for this Click board™ include AC or DC current-sensing in industrial and commercial systems, motor and load control, power factor correction, overcurrent protection, and various other uses.
