Monster Moto Shield VNH2SP30 Motor Driver 14A (Peak 30A)

The Monster Moto Shield VNH2SP30 Motor Driver 14A (Peak 30A) is a robust and enhanced version of the Ardumoto motor driver shield. In this iteration, the L298 H-bridge has been replaced with a pair of VNH2SP30 full-bridge motor drivers, elevating the motor driver’s capabilities.

Significant improvements have been made to the support circuitry, allowing this board to efficiently drive a pair of high-current motors. The VIN and motor output terminals are designed for compatibility with 5mm screw terminals (not included), providing a user-friendly interface for connecting larger gauge wires.

The transition from the L298 H-bridge to the VNH2SP30 represents an upgrade that enhances the overall performance and current-handling capacity of the Monster Moto Shield. This motor driver is well-suited for applications requiring robust motor control, making it a versatile choice for various projects.

Note:

When using this board in extreme high-demand applications it may be necessary to improve thermal performance with a heat-sink or fan and to solder the wires directly to the board instead of using a screw terminal (in addition to the myriad other complications present in a high-current system) However, when using the board at currents up to 6A the chips will barely become noticeably warm.
