The MT3608 2A Max DC-DC Step Up Power Module Booster Power Module is an affordable solution for stepping up input voltages ranging from 2V to 24V to outputs between 5V and 28V, capable of delivering currents up to 2A.

DC-DC boost converters, like this one, increase the input voltage to a higher level while reducing the available current, as the module cannot output more power than its inputs can provide.

This particular boost converter offers adjustability, allowing users to set output voltages within the 5.0 to 28V range, with a continuous current rating of up to 1.5A, though 1A is generally available across most settings.

As with all boost converters, the input voltage must be lower than the desired output voltage.

Notably, this device is designed to utilize low equivalent series resistance (ESR) bulk ceramic capacitors rather than electrolytic ones. This design choice addresses long-term aging concerns and contributes to the module’s compact form factor.

Voltage Adjustment:

The module has a single-turn potentiometer for adjustment of the output voltage.

Turning the pot CW decreases the output voltage while turning it  CCW increases the output voltage.

The upper limit of the adjustment range will depend on the input voltage and the load.  With a 9V input for instance, at 1A, the upper voltage limit will be approximately 20V.

4. VOUT- = Ground.  Connected to VIN- on the module.
