Nokia 5110 LCD Display Module – Blue

The Nokia 5110 LCD Display Module, as the name suggests, originates from the display screens used in old Nokia 5110/3310 cell phones. While originally designed for mobile phones, this LCD module has found widespread use among hobbyists for various applications involving graphics, text, and more.

Despite its industrial origins, this LCD display is remarkably easy to use. The Nokia 5110 LCD Display Module is mounted on a convenient PCB, making it simple to solder into projects. It utilizes a Philips PCD8544 LCD driver, which was specifically designed for mobile phones.

Featuring a low-cost monochrome display comprised of 84 x 48 pixels, this module can effectively showcase rich graphics and text content. Furthermore, this revised version of the module accepts input voltages ranging from 3V to 5V, eliminating the need for an additional level shifter.

Interfacing with UNO Board:

It uses the PCD8544 controller, which is the same one used in the Nokia 3310 LCD. The PCD8544 is a low-power CMOS LCD controller/driver, designed to drive a graphic display of 48 rows and 84 columns. All necessary functions for the display are provided in a single chip, including on-chip generation of LCD supply and bias voltages, resulting in a minimum of external components and low power consumption. The PCD8544 interfaces to microcontrollers through a serial bus interface.
