The Nokia 5110 LCD Display Module – Red traces its origins back to the display screens of old Nokia 5110/3310 cell phones. While initially intended for mobile phones, this module has become a popular choice among hobbyists for graphics, text, and more.
Despite its industrial heritage, this LCD display is remarkably user-friendly. Mounted on a solder-friendly PCB, the Nokia 5110 LCD Display Module utilizes a Philips PCD8544 LCD driver, originally designed for mobile phones.
Featuring a low-cost monochrome display comprised of 84 x 48 pixels, this module is capable of showcasing rich graphics and text content. This revised version of the module operates on a 5V input, eliminating the need for an additional level shifter.
Utilizing the PCD8544 controller, which is also used in the Nokia 3310 LCD, this module offers efficient power consumption and simplified interfacing with microcontrollers through a serial bus interface. With on-chip generation of LCD supply and bias voltages, it requires minimal external components, making it an ideal choice for various applications.
