A piezoelectric transducer is designed to convert mechanical force into electrical output. Typically composed of Quartz crystal, which consists of SiO2, these transducers are constructed from electrically neutral piezoelectric crystals. Although the atoms within the crystals are arranged in an unsymmetrical manner, their electric charges are balanced.
When mechanical force, such as stretching or bending, is applied to the crystal, it generates an electric voltage. In the absence of stress, no charges are induced. However, when stress is applied, positive charges are induced on one side of the crystal while negative charges are induced on the opposite side. This creates compression within the crystal due to the applied force.
