This ultra-low-cost and ultra-compact variant of the original Raspberry Pi is designed for versatility, measuring a mere 65mm x 30mm. Ideal for embedded applications, wearables, prototyping, and micro-scale Pi-based projects, the Raspberry Pi Zero is a powerhouse in a small package.
Equipped with onboard Wireless Internet and Bluetooth capabilities, the Raspberry Pi Zero Wireless WH ensures seamless connectivity for all your project needs. Powered by a BCM2835 chipset overclocked to 1GHz with 512MB RAM, it maintains the same 1080p video output as its larger counterparts, offering substantial processing power for its size. The familiar 40-pin GPIO layout, similar to the Raspberry Pi 2/B+/A+, allows users to solder their headers as needed.
The Raspberry Pi Zero stands out with its minimal power consumption, utilizing only around 140mA at 5V due to its reduced connectors and compact form factor. Notable differences include an unpopulated GPIO, unpopulated composite (RCA) header, and an unpopulated reset header. In comparison to its larger siblings, the Pi Zero lacks a DSI screen port, ethernet, analog audio, and full-sized USB ports. Instead, it features a micro-USB power port, a micro USB OTG host port for peripherals like a WiFi dongle, and a mini HDMI port for video output. In such projects, some people have no need for GPIO pins — they simply solder directly to the board.
