The RS232 to TTL Serial Interface Module is designed with the MAX3232 transceiver integrated circuit (IC), serving as a bridge between TTL and RS232 ports, facilitating seamless serial communication.

Typically, these boards feature a DB9 connector soldered at one end and four header pins for jumper cables at the other. The jumper cables allow users to connect wires to a breadboard or microcontroller project board, while the DB9 connector directly interfaces with a computer’s COM port.

The MAX3232 IC, packaged in a 16-pin narrow SO format, operates within a voltage range of 3.0V to 5.5V and includes two receivers and two transmitters. It supports a maximum guaranteed data rate of 120 kbps and requires four 0.1µF charge-pump support capacitors. This module is compatible with the well-known MAX3232 IC pins and interfaces with systems featuring UART, making it suitable for use with ATMEL and PIC microcontrollers.
