Introducing the Grove – 16×2 LCD v2.0, a versatile display solution for showcasing fonts, numbers, and symbols on LCD screens. This white on blue display features 16 characters across 2 rows with a high-brightness backlight. It supports I2C communication with your microcontroller, reducing the required pins for data exchange and backlight control from ~10 to 2. This frees up IOs for other tasks, making it more versatile.

The LCD is capable of displaying both English and Japanese fonts, offering convenience for users. With a plug-and-play Grove compatible interface and a compact modular design, the Grove – 16 x 2 LCD (White on Blue) is ready to use with microcontrollers as a digital input. In the accompanying picture, the Grove shield for Arduino is stacked with Seeeduino V4.2, demonstrating compatibility. This product provides a hassle-free solution for displaying information on LCD screens in your projects.

The Grove – 16×2 LCD v2.0 finds applications in various projects requiring a simple display, such as temperature and time displays. It is compatible with popular platforms like Arduino, Raspberry Pi, BeagleBone, Wio, and LinkIt ONE. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced user, Seeed Studio offers guidance through downloadable PDF documents. It is recommended to read the Preface – Getting Started and Introduction to Grove before using the product to ensure a smooth and informed experience for all Grove users.

I2C Pull-Up Resistor

For the first version of the Grove – 16 x 2 LCD series, there is no built-in pull-up resistor, and it does not offer a pad for optional soldering of a pull-up resistor. In response to this, Seeed Studio has introduced a redesigned module, and the new version now includes built-in pull-up resistors.

If you happen to have an older version without built-in pull-up resistors, you can manually solder a 10kΩ DIP resistor. Follow the instructions below for version 1.0: Solder a 10kΩ DIP resistor between the VCC and SCL pins, and another 10kΩ DIP resistor between the VCC and SDA pins. This modification ensures proper functionality. Refer to the provided picture for a visual guide.
