A comprehensive quad-band GSM/GPRS solution in an LGA (land grid array) type that can be integrated into customer applications is the SIM800A Quad Band GSM/GPRS Module with RS232 Interface. With low power consumption, SIM800A can transmit voice, SMS, and data at quad-band 850/900/1800/1900 MHz. It can satisfy the narrow and compact requirements of bespoke design because to its small size of 100 x 53 x 15 mm. With the inclusion of Embedded AT, customer applications can benefit from immediate time-to-market and total cost savings. With its SIM800A GSM chip and RS232 interface, the SIM800A modem makes it simple to connect to a computer, laptop, or microcontroller via an RS232 to TTL converter or a USB to Serial connector. Once the SIM800A modem is connected to the USB to RS232 connector, you must locate the appropriate COM port using the USB to Serial Adapter’s Device Manager. Then, using Putty or any other terminal program, establish a connection to that COM port at the modem’s default baud rate of 9600. Sending AT commands can begin as soon as the computer or your microcontroller establishes a serial connection.
