The TCRT5000 Dual Channel Line Tracking Sensor Module is an IR reflective sensor used for detecting color and distance. This module comprises an IR transmitter and an IR receiver. The IR transmitter continuously emits an IR signal, which is reflected by an obstacle and detected by the IR receiver.

The TCRT5000 Infrared Reflective Sensor Module is commonly employed in line-following robots and object-sorting robots because it can distinguish between white and black surfaces. It has a measuring distance range of 1 mm to 8 mm, with an optimal central point at about 2.5 mm.

The module includes an onboard potentiometer to adjust sensitivity. When powered on, the infrared diode continuously emits infrared light. If the emitted light is not reflected back strongly enough, the receiver diode remains in the off state, and the output pin (DO) will be LOW.
