The TEC1-12715 40x40mm Thermoelectric Cooler 15A Peltier Module exemplifies the straightforward application of the Peltier Thermoelectric Effect. This module comprises 127 semiconductor couples within a 40mmx40mm area.
Functioning on the principle of the Peltier effect, thermoelectric coolers, also known as TEC or Peltier modules, create a temperature differential across their surfaces. One side of the module becomes hot while the other side becomes cool. Consequently, these modules can be employed for either heating or cooling applications, depending on the side utilized. Additionally, they can exploit the temperature differential to generate electricity.
Effective operation of a Peltier module requires the removal of heat from the hot side. Upon activation, the hot side heats rapidly while the cold side cools correspondingly. Failure to dissipate the heat from the hot side results in the module reaching stasis and ceasing to function effectively. To facilitate heat dissipation, it is recommended to utilize a heat sink or similar device, such as an old computer CPU heatsink or a metal block. Proper heat dissipation can yield a significant temperature difference, as demonstrated by using a computer power supply and CPU heatsink to achieve a sufficiently cold surface.
A thermoelectric cooling (TEC) module operates as a semiconductor-based heat pump, transferring heat from one side of the module to the other when a DC power source is applied. Widely utilized in industrial applications, such as computer CPUs, CCDs, portable refrigerators, and medical instruments, these modules are commonly referred to as thermoelectric cooling modules, thermoelectric modules, Peltier modules, or simply thermoelectric cooling modules.
Operating Tips:
- Do not exceed Imax or Vmax when operating a module.
- Please carry out moisture protection options (sealing) in final application use.
- Life expectancy: 200,000 hours.
- Failure rate based on longtime testings: 0.2%.
Important Note!! Heat side requires heat sink all the time. “ Do not run this device with a power supply more than a few seconds without a heatsink mounted to the device! ”
Features:
- Small module.
- Easy transition between the hot side to the cool side and vice-versa just by reversing the polarity of the supply.
- Quality tested cooling cells.
- Solid-state, vibration-free, noise-free.
- Simple to install and operate.
- Should use with a heat sink.
