The Voltage Detection Sensor Module 25V is a simple yet highly useful module designed to reduce an input voltage by a factor of 5 using a potential divider. This allows you to use the analog input of a microcontroller to monitor voltages much higher than it can typically sense.
For instance, with a 0-5V analog input range, you can measure voltages up to 25V. The module includes convenient screw terminals for easy and secure wire connections.
Based on the principle of a resistive voltage divider, the module reduces the input voltage at the red terminal connector to 1/5 of its original value. With an Arduino that has an analog input range up to 5V, the module can handle input voltages up to 25V. If you are using a 3.3V system, the maximum input voltage should not exceed 16.5V (3.3V x 5).
Arduino AVR chips have a 10-bit ADC, which provides a resolution of 0.00489V (5V/1023). Therefore, the minimum detectable voltage using this module is 0.02445V (0.00489V x 5).
